Job Description

Do you love the idea of teaching students skills they’ll use for life? A School in Waltham Forest is seeking a creative and practical Food Technology Teacher to join their team from September 2025.

This full-time, permanent role is your chance to teach across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering fun, engaging, and informative lessons in food preparation, nutrition, and kitchen safety. The department is well-resourced, with modern facilities and strong staff collaboration.

Whether you're an experienced teacher or an Early Career Teacher with fresh ideas, you’ll be supported with professional development and encouraged to bring your passion for food and wellbeing into the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Food Technology across KS3 and KS4
  • Plan and deliver creative, practical lessons focused on nutrition, cooking, and food science
  • Promote healthy eating habits and hands-on learning
  • Ensure safety and hygiene standards are upheld in the kitchen
  • Track and assess student progress, adapting lessons as needed
  • Contribute to whole-school events and DT enrichment activities

Qualifications and Experience

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching Food Technology in a UK secondary school
  • Practical knowledge of food safety, nutrition, and culinary skills
  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management
  • ECTs welcome – full support and induction provided
  • A genuine passion for education, creativity, and real-world skills
